Quotes, from Alabama with discipline

Here’s the drill. I’ll give you three quotes: one general, one musical, and one from or about trumpets. Today’s theme is effort/practice/discipline. Oh–and all are from my home state of Alabama!

“Be of good cheer. Do not think of today’s failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles. Remember, no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost.”
Helen Keller

“We mostly work on songs we don’t play every night, but people are sometimes surprised to hear that we also rehearse tunes like ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ or ‘Miss You,’ but it’s not because anyone needs to learn them.
––– Chuck Leavell

Life is like a trumpet – if you don’t put anything into it, you don’t get anything out of it.
––– W.C. Handy
