Alexandre Petit, French cornetist, second prize recipient at the Paris Conservatory in 1881, solo cornet in the Arban Band (1881-4), the Garde Républicaine (1896-7), solo cornet with the Opéra-Comique, soloist on cylinder recordings on the Pathé label, teacher at the Paris Conservatory (1910-25), teacher of René Voisin, composer of numerous solos for cornet and piano, died in Paris, France.
