Merri Franquin, French cornetist and trumpeter, self taught for four years, member of the Marseille Casino Musical and Palais Lyrique and Theatre Chave, at 23 entered the Paris Conservatory under J.B. Arban (cornet), and Maury (trumpet), principal at Concerts Pasdeloup, National Opéra, Concerts Colonne, Opéra-Comique, Société des Concerts du Conservatoire, many recitals (some with C. Saint-Saëns on piano), legendary teacher and prof. at the Paris Conservatory, author of the amazing Methode Complète de Trompette Moderne, de Cornet à Pistons et de Bugle (studied by Maurice André and Pierre Thibaud), promoter of the C trumpet and other innovative trumpet designs, died in Paris, France.
