John Jacob Solomon, English trumpeter, student of Thomas Harper, Jr (learning slide trumpet, too!), third trumpet on the 1885 London performance of Bach’s B-Minor Mass (with Julis Kosleck on first and Walter Morrow on second), principal on the first of the Queen’s Hall Promenade Concerts, founding member of the London Symphony Orchestra, champion of the modern B-flat trumpet (the low F trumpet was common in England during his youth), professor at the Royal Academy of Music, writer of Twelve Etudes for the cornet, died in London, England.
