Adolphe Sax, Belgian instrument manufacturer, prone to many accidents when young, owner of shop in Belgium, then in Paris, supplier of instruments to many military units, designer of many types of “Saxhorns” (even a “petit Saxhorn”–the first piccolo trumpet in B-flat), publisher of music (including Arban’s method), died in Paris, France.
