Hermann Bellstedt, Jr., famous American cornetist, immigrated to the U.S. when nine, studied with his father, at 21 he was soloist with the Red Hussar Band at Manhattan Beach, Coney Island, soloist with Patrick Gilmore (1889-92), formed his own band, founding member (principal trumpet) with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, co-soloist with the Sousa Band (sharing with Clarke and Walter Rogers), soloist with the Innes Band, leader of the Denver Municipal Band (1909-12), composer of many cornet solos and works for band, successful teacher (notably Frank Simon), born in Bremen, Germany.
