Herman Basse, German trumpeter, studied with Julius Kosleck, played in St. Petersburg under Anton Rubenstein, immigrated to the U.S. in 1893, principal trumpet of the Met, principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra, principal with the New York Philharmonic (1905-06 season), played in the Detroit Symphony when replaced in the Philadelphia Orchestra by Harry Glantz, born in Goslar, Germany.
