Christian Rodenkirchen, German trumpet and cornetist, grew up in Cologne, immigrated to the U.S. and eventually won principal cornet with the newly-formed Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1891-1902) until he had to leave due to an argument with the principal trumpet (Albert Ulrich), principal trumpet in the NY Phil and Met (and in Phil. Orch. for one season), born in Honnef, Germany.
