Howard (“Maggie”) McGhee, American jazz trumpeter and composer, important bebop trumpeter on the Dial label, playing with Charlie Parker on the West Coast, voted best trumpeter by Downbeat (1949), became addicted to heroin and faded from limelight, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
