Terrence Blanchard, American jazz trumpeter and composer, studied with Ellis Marsalis, played with Lionel Hampton’s band, replaced Wynton Marsalis in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, formed his own band, film score composer (often working with director Spike Lee), recipient of numerous Grammy awards, artistic director of the Thelonious Monk Institute, born in New Orleans.
