Harry James, renowned American trumpet soloist, learned to play from his father (a circus conductor), at age 12 was conducting in the Christy Brothers Circus, from 1931 to 1935 toured Texas with a band, played with Ben Pollack, then Benny Goodman, gaining much popularity, recorded as combo player with Teddy Wilson and with Lionel Hampton in 1937, formed his own band in 1939, becoming the most popular swing trumpet soloist in the world, married actress Betty Grable in 1943 months after divorcing his first wife, appeared in many movies with Grable, suffered problems of alcoholism, womanizing and horse gambling, born in Albany, Georgia.
