Mace Gay, American cornetist, bugler for the 2nd Brigade in Boston at age 18, soloist with Baldwin’s Cadet Band, elected director (and solo cornet) of the Martland Band of Brockton, won cornet solo contest in Nantasket Beach playing Hartmann’s Carnival of Venice, died in Brockton, Massachusetts.
