This Day in History: 1950-03-21

Toru (“Tiger”) Okoshi, Japanese trumpeter, son of a samurai warrior, heard Louis Armstrong in Japan and decided to become a jazz trumpeter, after graduating from Kwansei Gakuin University in music, went to Boston to study in Berklee College of Music, played with many great jazz artists, teacher at Berklee,  co-wrote book Practice Method: Trumpet, born in Ashiya City, Hyogo, Japan.
