Hugh Masekela, South African trumpeter, composer, vocalist, cofounded the Merry Makers of Spring, and Jazz Epistle, immigrated to England, then studied in NYC, toured with Paul Simon, formed his own label, in 1981, formed the Botswana International School of Music, produced a musical, Sarafina! (nominated for Tony award), awarded the South Africa National Order of Ikhamange in 2010, born in Witbank, South Africa.
