Freddie Hubbard, American jazz trumpet great, heard by Miles Davis and signed with Blue Note Records, working with J.J. Johnson, Quincy Jones, Sonny Rollins, joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, formed own quintet in 1964, in early 1970s recorded on CTI label, then with Columbia, had problems in the 1980s with drinking, ruptured lip in 1992 with limited recovery, born in Indianapolis, Indiana.
