Jean-Baptist Arban, French cornetist and composer, one of the most influential cornetists ever, student of Dauverné in the natural trumpet class in 1841, served in French Navy, conducted salon orchestras, conductor of the Paris Opera Orchestra, saxhorn teacher at the École Militaire, wrote the important and influential Grand Method fo the Cornet, hired as first cornet professor of the Paris Conservatory, resigned to tour Russia, then returned to teach at the Paris Conservatory, Officer of the Academy, Knight of the Order of Leopold of Belgium, of Christ of Portugal, of Isabella the Catholic, the Cross of Russia, died in Paris, France.
