Tom Williams, American trumpeter and drummer, toured with the Broadway show Sophisticated Ladies, played with Mercer Ellington, Ray Charles, Dizzy Gillespie, Jackie McLean, Hank Jones, played in the US Army Field Band’s Jazz Ambassadors and then “Pershing’s Own,” active in the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and the Smithsonian Jazz Orchestra, leads own band InterPlay, born in Baltimore, Maryland.
