George Rock, American comedic trumpeter, left Wesleyan College (and football scholarship) to become professional trumpet player, joined the comedic Freddie Fisher’s Schnickelfritz Band, then picked up by Spike Jones and His City Slickers for twenty years, recording All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth) which sold two million copies, left to play in Las Vegas, eventually becoming a used car salesman and playing in a steakhouse at night, died on this day.
