John Wallace, Scottish trumpeter, played 2nd trumpet in the Festival Ballet Orchestra in London, joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, then Covent Garden Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra as coprincipal, principal of the Philharmonia Orchestra of London (1976-95; awarded Order of the British Empire upon retirement), founded the Wallace Collection in 1986, principal trumpet of the London Sinfonietta, born in Mixthill, Fife, Scotland.
