Benny Bailey, American trumpeter, began professional playing in the 1940s with Bull Moose Jackson, Lionel Hampton and Dizzy Gillespie’s big band, on tour with Hampton stayed in Europe, settling in Amsterdam, played with many other great bands and jazz musicians, returned to New York for a while, cofounding the Upper Manhattan Jazz Society with Charlie Rouse, died in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
