David Zauder, Polish-born American trumpeter, in Plaszow concentration camp parents killed, sent to Auschwitz in 1943, liberated by Patton’s Third Army, became friends with one of the trumpeters (Frank Bond), immigrated to the U.S., at 16 took lessons with Leonard B. Smith, went to the New York Military Academy, after graduating won position in West Point Band, during which time he studied with Harry Glantz, after his military service freelanced in NYC, then joined the Boston Pops Orchestra, won 3rd and later 2nd/principal cornet with the Cleveland Orchestra, appointed personnel manager in 1970, died in Pine, Colorado.
