Tom Saunders, American cornetist and bandleader, at age 9 was member of his older brother’s band on the radio, at 13 led his own group, served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-57, after which he joined Pee Wee Hunt’s band (1959-62), formed the band Surf Side Six that performed for 22 years, born in Detroit, Michigan.
