Mace Gay, American cornetist, at 18 performed with several bands in the Boston area, bugler for the 2nd Brigade in Boston, soloed with Porter’s Orchestra in 1875, soloed with Baldwin’s Cadet Band and remained with this group until 1880, director of the Martland Band of Brockton (1881-1936), won cornet solo contest in Natasket Beach (1885), taught more than 800 students, born in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
