Walter M. Smith, American cornetist, at 18 was soloist with the Lyndonville Vermont Band, played the Messiah with the Boston Handel and Haydn Society (1912-1937), principal trumpet in Boston Opera House Orchestra, conducted band at 1915 San Francisco World’s Fair, authored etude book Top Tones, edited a version of Arban’s method for Carl Fischer, director of bands at Boston University, leader of the Aleppo Shrine Band in 1925, had his own radio show, died in Boston, Massachusetts.
