1915 Nappy Trottier, American trumpeter, in Chicago played trad jazzz at the Jazz Ltd. with Miff Mole, Darnell Howard, George Brunies, Clancy Hayes and others, recorded with Art Hodel, born in Norway, Michigan.

1922 Paul Cohen, American jazz trumpeter, began career with Earl Hines Orch, played with bands led by Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, since 1980s fronts his own big band in Florida, born on this day.

1954 Sal Cracchiolo, American jazz trumpeter, began career in various nightclubs in LA area, played in Poncho Sanchez Latin Band, played with many notable jazz artists, formed his own jazz sextet, born in Long Beach, California.

1955 Bob Earley, American trumpeter, principal of the Boston Opera Company, associate principal of Montreal Symphony Orch (1982-92), taught at McGill Univ, 2nd in Philadelphia Orch (1992-2013), taught at Temple Univ, Rutgers Univ, Rowan Univ, born in Summit, New Jersey.

1956 Tony Lujan, American jazz trumpeter, performed with many notable jazz artists, worked in LA as studio artist and member of the Bill Holman Band, taught at Dick Grove School of Music, struggled with physical trauma from severe car accident, resulting in being able to play again, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

1963 Guido Segers, Belgian trumpeter, concurrent principal of the National Orch of Brussels and teacher at Brussels conservatory, principal of Munich Phil Orch (1994), member of that orchestra's brass ensemble and brass quintet and the Trio Con Brio, born in Bree, Belgium.

1963 Bob Farley, British trumpeter, principal performances with many leading orchestras and historical orchestras in UK, prof of trumpet and baroque trumpet at Royal Academy of Music and the Trinity College of Music, born in Dartford, England.

1992 Johnny Carisi, American jazz trumpeter and composer, during WWII served in Glenn Miller's Army Air Force Band, member of the Claude Thornhill Orchestra, studied classical composition, recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, taught composition at Manhattan School of Music and at Queens College in 1970s, died in NYC.
