Walter Chestnut, American trumpeter, professor at Univ. of Massachusetts (1967-2001), instrument collector, soloist with the Boston Pops in 1978, selected as “Outstanding Music Educator in America” in 1973 and many other academic awards, died in Northampton, Massachusetts.
