Pete Daily, American cornetist, well-known early jazz player in Chicago (1930-42) recording with Frank Melrose in 1940, joined the Merchant Marine in WWII, joined Ozzie Nelson, led the Pete Daily Chicagoans, moved to Indiana with bad health and played with Smokey Stover’s band, born in Portland, Indiana.
