Louis Madison, American jazz trumpeter, played in local groups before playing principal bugle in the 419th Labor Battalion in WWI, joined Jack Carey (1919-20), led his own bands (1919-24), e.g., the Zulu Band (including Louis Armstrong and Kid Rena on cornets, worked with leading New Orleans musicians in the early 1920s, then in Chicago in the later 1920s and onward, born in Raceland, Louisiana.
