Johann Ernst Altenburg, Germanic trumpeter, passed his apprentice exam under his father at age 17, field trumpeter in the French Army during the Seven Years’ War, accepted an organ position in Landsberg, wrote the famous “Heroic and Musical Trumpeters’ and Kettledrummers’ Art” (published in 1795), died in poorhouse in Bitterfeld, Germany.
