Earl Irons, American cornetist, one of America’s foremost educators, played in U.S. Army Band during WWI, head of band and orchestra departments at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1925, active cornet clinician, president of the American Bandmasters Association, wrote an important book of fundamental studies (27 Groups of Exercises) and a few cornet solos, died on this day.
