Miles Davis, American jazz trumpet, one of the most influential jazz musicians, trailblazer in bebop, cool, hard bop, free jazz and fusion, went to Juilliard in 1944 (for a few months) and played at Minton’s Playhouse and Monroe’s, replaced Dizzy in Charlie Parker’s quintet, played in Gil Evans’ Nonet, suffered from heroin addiction, formed his own quintets and sextet, played series of albums with music arranged by Gil Evans, recorded Bitches Brew (example of fusion jazz), winner of 8 Grammys, inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, born in Alton, Illinois.
