Sidney De Paris, American jazz trumpeter, performed with Charlie Johnson’s Paradise Ten (1926-31), Fetcher Henderson, Mezz Mezzrow, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet, Willie (the Lion) Smith and the Roy Eldridge big band, formed his own band (1947), with declining health played tuba in the 1960s, known for his growling, swinging style, born in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
