Ernest Royal, American jazz trumpeter, played with Lionel Hampton’s orchestra, joined navy playing in band during WWII, afterwards lead trumpeter with Count Basie (1946), Woody Herman’s Second Herd, Charlie Barnet and Duke Ellington, moved to Paris for 2 years playing with Jacques Helian, returning to the states played with Wardell Gray, Stan Kenton, Gil Evans, ABC studio staff musician (1957-72), born in Los Angeles, California.
