Alexandre Petit, French cornetist, studied with Arban, received 2nd prize on cornet in 1881, solo cornet in the Arban Band (1881-4), and the Garde Républicaine (1896-7), solo cornet at the Opéra-Comique (1898), recorded many cylinders for the Pathé label (starting in 1904), performed the Saint-Saens Septuor (1908), taught at the Conservatory (1910-25), taught René Voisin and Marcel Lafosse (both worked with the Boston Symphony), composed many solos, documented valuable information about cornet virtuosos prior to 1912.
