Wilhelm Wurm, German cornetist, member of the Imperial Theater Orchestra in St. Petersburg, member of the ballet orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, toured Russia as cornet soloist (1869-1889), known for his lyrical playing, became chief bandmaster of the Guards’ military bands, taught at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (1868-1904), advocated lip and mouthpiece buzzing (like Joseph Fröhlich in 1811), composed brass chamber music, died in St. Petersburg, Russia.
