Edward Tarr, American trumpeter who lived in Switzerland and Germany, formed a dance band and trad jazz group while a teenager, studied music history in Switzerland, began playing cornetto and, later, baroque trumpet with Walter Holy, became teacher at the Rheinische Musikschule in Cologne and principal of the Orchestra della RAI in Rome, began teaching baroque trumpet and cornetto at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and modern trumpet at the Music Academy (both in Basel Switzerland), known for authoritative knowledge, research and writing on trumpet history, born in Norwich, Connecticut.
