David Hickman, American trumpeter, national winner of the orchestral division of the MTNA Solo Competition in 1972, the Naftzger Young Artists Award in 1974, professor at the University of Illinois (1974-82), on interim steering committee of the ITG, thousands of solo appearances worldwide, professor at Arizona State University, formed Summit Brass, established the Keystone (and later Rafael Méndez) Brass Institute, organized the 1995 International Brassfest, established Summit Records, wrote many trumpet books and established Hickman Music Editions, born in Duncan, Oklahoma.
