Carl Saunders, American jazz/pop trumpeter, learned to play by ear, played mellophonium with Stan Kenton’s band, played drums with Bobby Sherwood’s band, played trumpet with Is Zentner, Perez Prado, Harry James, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich and Benny Goodman, toured with Paul Anka, performed with numerous show bands, lead trumpet with the Bill Holman Orchestra and leader of the Carl Saunders Be Bop Big Band, born in Indianapolis, Indiana.
