Susan Slaughter, American trumpeter, principal of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, 4th, then later in 1973, principal of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, becoming one of the first female principal trumpet players of a major symphony orchestra, established the International Women’s Brass Conference in 1991, founded the all-female Monarch Brass, a leader in the ITG, born in McCordsville, Indiana.
