Ray Copeland, American trumpeter, played with Cecil Scott, Mercer Ellington many others and his own band, performed with New York’s Roxy Theater Orchestra, toured with Randy Weston in Africa with US State Dept support, composed Classical Jazz Suite in Six Movements that premiered at the Lincoln Center in 1970, taught at Hampshire College (1979-84),   born in Norfolk, Virginia.
