Johann Andreas Schachtner, Austrian trumpeter of German birth, moved to Salzburg to study with Johann Caspar Köstler, was a Hof-und-Feldtrompeterat the Salzburg court in 1754, known as fine cello and violin player, close friend of the Mozart family, likely premiered the L. Mozart Trumpet Concerto, became a Spielgraf in 1781, unsuccessfully tried to cure young Wolfgang Mozart’s fear of the trumpet by surprising him with a blast, died in Salzburg, Austria.
