Francisco Guarente, Italian-born American jazz trumpeter, played as classical trumpeter, but after moving to New Orleans traded classical for jazz lessons with King Oliver, played with the Mars Brass Band and ragtime groups at Kolb’s Restaurant, toured in Texas as Ragtime Frank, played with the Alabama Five, joined the Army in WWI, joined Paul Specht’s dance orchestra and its associated combo the Georgians, in 1930s worked as studio player and lead trumpeter in various bands, died at age 48 in NYC.
