Jon Faddis, American jazz trumpeter known for very high range and excellent soloing, played in Lionel Hampton’s big band (1971), Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, lead with Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Big Band, the New York Jazz Repertory Company, studio player in NYC, formed his own jazz quintet in 1984, known for ability to imitate styles of Roy Eldridge, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and many others, teacher at SUNY Purchase, leader of the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra, born in Oakland, California.
