Saul Caston, American trumpeter and conductor, studied with Max Schlossberg at Curtis Institute by age 11, member of the Russian Symphony Orchestra in New York at age 15, second trumpet in Philadelphia Orchestra at age 17 (later principal from 1923 to 1945), associate conductor of Philadelphia Orchestra from 1936, conductor of the Denver Symphony Orchestra starting in 1945, taught trumpet at Curtis from 1924-42, died in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
