Wilhelm Weiprecht, German instrument maker, played in the city orchestra of Leipzig and in the Gewandhaus, member of the Royal orchestra of Berlin, invented the bass tuba (bombardon), honored by the Royal Academy of Berlin in 1835, developed the Berliner-Pumpe valve which led to successful contracts with the Prussian military bands, director-general of the bands of the 10th Confederate Army Corps, first to arrange orchestral works for band, died on this day.
