Bohumir Kryl, Bohemian-born American cornetist, learned to play in a circus, immigrated to the U.S, became sculptor in the Indianapolis area, discovered by Sousa (through Albert Bode) in the 1890s, joined T.P. Brooke’s Chicago Marine Band (1899), soloist with the Dust Band of New York (1901), soloist with Innes’ band (1902-06), organized his own concert band soloing more than 12,000 times in nearly 30 years, collected many paintings by famous artists, died in Wilmington, New York.
