Werner Menke, German trumpeter and musicologist and singer, received Ph.D. in 1940 (studying Telemann’s vocal works), played trumpet in the opera house in Hanover, active as a Bach trumpeter and tenor singer, notable singing teacher, designed modified baroque natural trumpets by adding two valves, wrote book, The History of the Trumpet of Bach and Handel, became choir director, died in Müllheim, Germany.
