Mike Mantler, Austrian jazz trumpeter and composer studying in Europe and in the US, played with Cecil Taylor and Lowell Davidson, proponent of free jazz, played with Steve Lacey’s Jazz Realities quintet, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orch., formed with Carla Bley the JCOA, opened recording studio, returned to Europe, received Austria’s State Prize for Improvisational Music, born in Vienna, Austria.
