Gerard Schwarz, American trumpeter and conductor, while in school was member of the American Brass Quintet and American Symphony Orch, member of the Lincoln Center Chamber Players, premiered many solo works, coprincipal of the New York Phil, founded the NY Trumpet Ensemble, cornet soloist with several famous recordings, taught at Juilliard from 1971-75 with prominent students, gave up trumpet to become (very prominent) conductor in 1975, born in Weewawken, New Jersey.
