Johnny Dunn, American jazz trumpeter, played with W.C. Handy’s band in 1917, specialized in producing growl and plunger effects, played with Mamie Smith’s Jazz Hounds, formed his own band, recorded with James P. Johnson and Fats Waller, went to Europe to finish career, died in Paris, France.
